Western Forests: Eastern Forests:

Trip 2 is the overall representative for experiencing "typical" eastern forests. The dominant type in the east is the Oak/Hickory forest type. This type, along with the Oak/Pine type will be experienced in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Oak/Gum/Cypress and Longleaf/Slash Pine forest types are represented in the Okefenokee Swamp and Oconee National Forest is largely made up of the Loblolly/Shortleaf Pine forest type.
