With fungi a focus of Trip 5, we start the trip in Denver, Colorado at the Great American Beer Festival. Beer, and even regular bread, would not be possible without yeast, a fungus in the Phylum Ascomycota. Fungi also can spoil foods in the form of molds yet they have contributed to medicines like Penicillin.
