What does physics have to do with experiencing life? The processes of life ultimately boil down to chemical reactions. Chemicals and chemical reactions are governed by the laws of physics. Physics is the most basic science. There are many ways in which physics affects the lives of living things and some of the most exciting experiences of life come from experiencing aspects of physics we don't normally encounter. An example is the forces our bodies undergo when we ride an amusement park ride. We can feel g-forces and other phenomena that make us feel weightless or much heavier than normal. Other less obvious examples of the interaction between physics and life will be explored throughout Trip 8. How is Bernoulli's principle applied to blood pressure? How do sound waves interact with our ear drums? Why do we float in water? And others.
